Wide-eyed and bushy-tailed we showed up at the doorsteps at the public school to see what was going on. This was supposed to be an opportunity to learn about the district, the kids, the teachers, the other parents, the principals and class-rooms. What happens when everybody shows up and all is crammed into a small space? Organized chaos. Kobe went from table to table meeting the people of his potential new existence coming up in a few months.
Leaping from table to table, in and around other eager children and their nervous parents, he was able to do the tasks given to him - like counting pegs, writing his name, pointing his abc's, sorting sea creatures, and impressing teachers. We then toured two kindergarten classrooms to see what they might look like. The tables were short, the chairs many, and the computers were macs. Kobe was intrigued by the decorations handmade by his peers, and spotted numbers and alphabets. He was offered a ride in the school bus, but he declined. Kobe would rather walk to the car with his parents.
