Kian Camps Out...Inside

This boy was found this morning sleeping on the floor again. I guess he prefers a harder surface for his slumber...

Tangled Sleep

Kyrie found herself in a situation she couldn't quite comprehend when the bumper of her crib was surrounding the tiny girl after she chased the nuk that escaped the mattress. We hear a loud cry from the bedroom, and we ran to see what was the matter. Karis tried to comfort her slightly scared sister into a better state of mind, but Kyrie wanted her plug and the normal comfort of her bed. We rolled the little girl back on the bed, and she fell fast asleep...

Sleepy Heads

Making it a habit. Another night of new sleep-stylings with the Brothers Knudegaard...

The Sleep-Stylings of the Brothers Knudegaard

It was the wee hours of the morning, and I was heading off to bed. Only had to check on the quads. There in a deep slumber were two boys camped out in the middle of the floor with all their favorite animals. I hate to be the one to break up the party, but I figured the bed might be a more comfy place to hang out for the night. The boys did not even move a muscle or lift an eyelid when I lifted them back into the place built for a snooze. Luv Yah, Good Night!

Missing at Midnight

It was way past our bedtime. Rebecca was finishing our blogs downstairs, while I made the rounds to check on the kids. All the light had been turned out, and everything was just like it should. I opened the door to the boys' room, and saw our oldest sleep ever so gently on his bed dreaming of anything sweet. I turned my head to Kian's bed - it was empty. It happens once in a while that the boy will play with toys and doze off on the floor or in his brother's bed - but no, not this time. My heart started pounding as I checked the windows, turned on all the lights and examined every nook and cranny of the bedroom, hallway, bathroom and living room. Kian was nowhere to be found! All the doors were locked and windows shut, so chances were slim that he had made it outside. I was about to call my wife in a frantic voice when I noticed a heel sticking partly out from beneath the wall side of Kian's bed. I investigated further and found part of his head sticking out from the bottom end of the bed. He had either fallen asleep under there, or rolled under while sleeping. I woke him up, but he had no idea where he was, and needed major assistance to get out. He claimed he was stuck, and I finally was able to fish him out. There is only a few inches between the bottom of the bed and the floor, so it took some creativity to make it happen. But he went to sleep again the moment his head hit the pillow...

Tangled up in Blue

Kobe insisted to have a portrait taken in camouflage before bedtime. He then wanted to see how he looked on camera...
We ended up with a very nice picture of his comforter.

Look Out!

Nap time was over, and it was reasonable to believe that the children would need to be woken up to get on with the day. I entered the boys' bedroom and did not see Kian in his bed. Instead I spotted a shadow in the window, spanning the frame like an X through the blinds. It was the boy not sleeping, but rather observing the activities on the other side of the pane while standing in the windowsill. Good thing we do not live in a multi-story home!

Karis Plays Mommy

Karis makes sure her "baby" is strapped into the ExerSaucer before she gently rocks her to sleep. It is almost time for "mommy" to take a snooze as well, but she fights the urge for a little bit - her dolly needs her...

Karis Sleeping Pretty

I was returning Kyrie to bed after her last feeding, when I noticed something on top of Karis' head. It had not been there when we put her down for the evening, so she seemed to think that some extra glitz would do the trick for visiting Mr. Sandman. Karis knew just how to dress for the occasion...

Get Up Sleepy Heads!

The early morning silence is broken by an unmistakably load cry pulsating through the air. Kyrie is telling us that she might be inclined to eat her breakfast, it is time to get up. Rebecca stumbles upstairs to prepare nutritional things, while daddy is left with the shrieking lactovore. She wants her food - and she wants it now! The cries accompany her father up the stairway and into the kitchen where her mother awaits with a bottle. Quiet. The kitchen table will now be set for the other siblings to daintily pick at what we serve them, telling us they are full after twenty minutes staring at the eatables. First out of bed is Kobe, greeting us briefly before moving towards the table where the food watching commences. Second is Kian, who bounces seventeen times up and down - smiling all the way to his stool for the ritual. He made it through the night all clean and dry. Karis needed to be woken up. She had fallen out of bed in the middle of the night, hitting her head on the wooden floor when she forgot that she was located in her big girl bed. Karis made sure that little sister was given the proper morning greeting before taking her place at the breakfast table. Then the time soon drew near to get groomed, dressed and ready for church, while Snoopy the dog was left in the kennel to ponder the meaning of life...

Zzzzzz......

Just like the youngest member of our family, it is time to take a snooze. Many good memories from the first day of this blog. All asleep, just the computer-hum left of wakefulness in the house. Battling an increasingly empty mind and droopy eyes, goodnight - God Bless!

Karis in Her New Big Girl Bed

Last night our little Karis slept through the night without getting up in her new toddler bed. She went from her crib, and tried out this strange contraption during her afternoon nap too. It worked so well that we took the chance on her spending the night without the restraints of bars. She went willingly by herself when it was time to sleep. She was very proud and fell asleep with a big smile on her face. We found her this morning sitting in her bed waiting for us to pick her up. No fuss, no complaints. Still smiling. Karis is growing up so fast!
