For One Day Only

Today is the day for selling stuff at our garage sale, a redo of another one done a couple of months ago. The girls have been at it since this morning, and there seems to be a slow but steady stream of people dropping by. It was a good idea to combine it with the time of the fair, but it's only for today...

Sitting on the Sidelines

Because Karis was too little to go on the inner-tube like her big brothers, she had to stay on the dock and watch. After a few rounds of watching, she decided to have her own fun! She went

exploring to find treasures in the wilds of the lakeshore and even ended up (fully clothed) in the water for a little refreshment herself! All in all she had a good time despite being left on the sidelines.

Rebecca the Cheerleader

As the boys were having fun on the lake with their aunt, uncle and cousins - Rebecca took a seat at the dock watching every minute cheering them on at every turn. She was truly their greatest fan. Karis chimed in too, but she was more interested in enjoying the lake herself by being in it. The water was cool. Grandpa later came down to check out what the commotion was all about.

Family Fun Day

Today was family Fun Day at church. It's kind of the last "hurrah" of summer which can be happy or sad depending on your favorite season. I prefer Fall myself and am looking forward to the season of apples, pumpkins, cool, crisp air and colorful leaves. But alas, I digress.

Family Fun Day was a splendid example of all that is fun for children. Hotdogs and corn on the cob for lunch, games, prizes, cotton candy, popcorn and slushies following after. The weather was just as summer wants us to remember it- hot and sunny!

Fun was had by all and we were even treated to a performance by the Durocher family. I felt as though it was a giant family gathering! To top off the day, Kyrie's name was chosen for two prizes and Karis won the Grand Prize of a new girl's bike!

She was beaming from ear to ear so much that her cheeks got sore! It will be another day to put in our memory bank until next year. As for now, I am starting to dream of pumpkin pie. ; )

A New Birthday for Karis

During Sunday devotions, after I explained what it meant to be a part of God's family and why Jesus died on the cross to pay for the bad things we have done, Karis prayed this prayer:
"Jesus died on the cross - come to my heart. Amen!"
But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 19:14

Spiders and Butterflies

Lunchtime. The older kids were returning with Mommy from watching eagles, hawks, and owls at the middle-school. Kobe walked in excited and hungry, and the other two followed in his heels smiling big. There was something on their cheeks. It was a small piece of art, a spider for Kian and a butterfly for Karis. They were very proud of their little souvenirs.

Where's Karis?

During our weekly Wal-Mart run, we herded our children around our shopping cart trying to maintain a sense of order in the frantic Saturday grocery chaos of shoppers. People were husteling to get items off the shelves, and we tried our best not to plow them down along the way. In freezer section it happened. Rebecca and I were opening one of the glass doors reveiling dinner enters for two bucks and fifty cents when we did our minutely youngster head-count. We came up one short. Karis was nowhere to be spotted. We looked here and there calling her name, nothing. For a brief moment time slowed to a crawl, and our hearts pounded hard in our chests. Then we heard it, the faint giggle coming from underneath our stack of items. Karis...

Belated Birthday Gifts
Karis received some belated birthday gifts from her Grandmamma. A beautiful high chair to feed her dolls, and a cradle to rock them to sleep! She loves them and plays with them all the time!
